Short Plays by Local Playwrights

Submission Deadline:

June 30, 2025

 

Criteria:

1. To be eligible for the NEW WORKS NIGHT 2025, you must live in Kansas. 

2. There is no submission fee for this script call; however, please only send two submissions per writer.

3. Monologues and Short Plays are accepted.

4. Monologues should be no longer than 3 pages, and Short Plays should no longer than 10 pages.

5. Plays MUST be original and unproduced, to align with the festival mission to help area playwrights. Plays that have had readings are fine to submit, previously produced or published ones are not. By submitting your play, you are verifying that it is new.

6. Please keep the plays simple as far as cast size, set, and technical needs, as we perform these plays back-to-back and need fast transitions.

7. Entries must be submitted in a PDF Document format.

8. Plays may not be written using any generative artificial intelligence (AI).

 

Playwrights will be notified on July 31, 2025 if their play has been selected.

Playwrights will retain all rights to their work. The selected playwrights will receive a stipend of $25, one free ticket, a link to the online program, and photos from the dress rehearsal for their records.
